My site is a collection of poems and stories, backed up where possible with a picture image. Copyrights of pictures will be indicated wherever possible.
It is with pleasure that I share my work, which is my attempt to identify the ups and downs we meet in life, both serious and amusing, and hope you can identify with some of the problems. I hope you enjoy my work.
The site is continually modified and updated.
About the author:
I was born in England and live in a town in the northwest, once classed as the gateway to the north. Well, the Romans also believed that. They built a base on the south side of the town, and many artifacts have been recovered from that period, including glass and pottery. The town accommodates the magnificent golden gates that were made as a present for Queen Victoria. On viewing the gates, she spotted a statue of Oliver Cromwell who was situated behind the gates. This upset the Queen who then lost all interest in the gates.
This was an advantage to the town for the gates are now the entrance to the Town Hall.
It also has the Church with the third highest spire in the whole of England. The weather vane at its peak is made from gold sovereigns, donated by the rich people of the town.
The town also accommodated the largest American supply base in Europe and played a great part in keeping Berlin supplied during the Berlin crisis.
As a boy I was fairly active with three mile jogs before breakfast and school, couldn’t pass a tree without attempting to climb it and all the usual things that boys do. I was at home in the countryside. Went through schooling, got my first employment, after which I was conscripted into the army for 2 years.
Based in Germany I found the lady of my dreams, took her prisoner, got married, and I have been her slave every since. We have two grown up children.
My main strengths were in selling which rapidly extended my career into sales management, covering a fairly large part of England and Wales. Later I moved on from there and, in partnership with my wife, we opened and ran three businesses; A shop selling ladies fashions, a hairdressing and beauty salon, and a large antique outlet.
Somewhere out in cyberspace our website still exists.
We also had three of the most gorgeous Alsatians that anyone could wish for and who were our constant companions.
Running the three outlets was quite an exciting time and fun to operate, but there comes a time in life when one considers they have done enough. We retired and each acquired a computer, which gives us tremendous pleasure.
Throughout life I have always had a great imagination and attempted stories and poetry. I was also aware that I had quite a lot to learn, and this I have been doing ever since.
